If you ever wondered how modern illustration "draws" (hurr hurr) from 19th century painting may I suggest a trip to the museum. You can see the evolution of a technology that allows us to crank out similar product at much smaller sizes and higher speeds.

Uhh...I just noticed this, but Steve Jobs looks like a supervillain.

If we learned nothing else from Michael Jackson, it's that if you're dressing like you're the bad guy in a comic book things are not well at home.

So here I am in a hotel again. I got an eye infection or something, it might be corneal abrasion, I did not really understand the doctor. At least it didn't cost me because hey, socialized medicine!

Since I can't see I can't really see France so I elected to hang out inside and take it easy. Maybe this is the last big rest-up before the jump home!

Anyway, there have been very few pictures last week, but the ones there have been are good.

Antibiotics make me feel all crappy and weird so there will not be a lot of commentary this time.

France is big on just...towers. Just towers, sitting around at random. You're not allowed to climb them or anything, you're not allowed to do anything but take a picture and say, yes, that sure was a tower. I guess all the obvious Eiffel and Freud jokes have been made.

These are in Paris.

Never did figure out why this building looked like a giant metal bird's nest.

Oh French buildings I love you. If only America had masonry like this....

I like the overlapping and contradictory information in this photo.

Workman on the roof of the Louvre.

the pictures that follow are from the Louvre, which I finally visited and absolutely adored. Guys, it really is a shame I'm feeling rough right now. There's so much more to say about all this stuff. I guess if you check my Facebook photos (where these are all posted) you can get a better idea of how elating I really do find all this stuff.

Has anyone seen The Kingdom? This is so creepy if you've seen that movie. I love how art museums come up with some of the oddest juxtapositions.

If you don't think this painting is awesome than I feel sorry for you.

"But sir..." "I tell you I am an aeroplane."

The only way that modern art has improved on this painting is much better depictions of the Aurora Borealis.

Death...by ALLEGORY

Oh the depth here! The planes! The discrete but fully realized nature of the object!

Actually just looking at these pictures again puts me in a better mood.

A woman explaining modern art to the kids. Check out that French body language all over the place, so great.

Next day, waking up at Mantes-la-jolie, a sorta interesting sorta burg...

Apparently it was a favorite of Henry the IVth, called "The Good" on wikipedia but called "The Bad" on one of the historical plaques I read. I'd like to know more about that.

This lake, by the way, was not there in ol' Henry's day.

Building sand castles at Dives-sur-mer.

Ocean + photoshop. I'm really getting processing these down to a science. Here's how: copy the layer, put it as an overlay or hard light or whatever, use the color range select to entirely delete any color range that doesn't work. Repeat until you like it.

Boats at Dives-sur-mer, getting ready for another long day of doin' nothin'.

This picture has a secret message. It's right in the middle, towards the bottom.

I tell you Napoleon invented Space Invaders!

But the liberal media won't give him credit!
